According to Facebook's description, in its own words, it is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them'. Not only does it connect people with other people from around the world, it also allows them to share information, updates on their day-to-day life, pictures, videos, events, groups and fan pages, plus a wide range of activities. Members can add, poke and message each other or alternatively write on each other's walls and comment, hence staying in touch with each other. There is also an option of tagging friends to pictures and videos. In this way, Facebook offers an all-round entertainment service.

There are many applications and games on Facebook, which are quite interactive and entertaining and members spend most of their free time on them and also challenging and inviting friends to play them too. Some of these applications include Farmville, Happy Aquarium, Social Interview, Top Friends, etc. Furthermore, Facebook takes strict measures on their members' privacy and members can choose to edit information and allow or block whoever they want to from viewing specific parts of their profile. Therefore, members do not have to be concerned about their privacy as in recent months, Facebook has become even safer to use.

Keywords are the keys to reach the hearts of your audience; draw their attention by indicating that you are interested in whatever interests them! If you have already specified to Facebook the keywords you want to use for your advertisement and the demographics you want to reach out to, they will list out all the people who match your specifications.

Again, it is important that you get the right type of people and the right number. It would not do to have far too many people viewing your advertisement, especially if most of them care a hoot for your business or your products! There is something called over-targeting too! So your pay-per-click or pay-per-impression should be set at a competitive level. In short, you have to perform a balancing act between having too little and having too much!

While customizing your advertisement, remember that the demographics is very important. Your audience must suit your product. For example, if you are interested in selling umbrellas, it must be to a population that lives in places with heavy rainfall. You obviously will not sell umbrellas to desert dwellers, even to protect them from the sun!

Why not include some graphics or even a photograph if possible, that relates something about your business? After all, a picture always speaks louder than words! And this applies to online businesses too, since people cannot actually walk into your shop and see what is going on! Do you have a special logo of your own? Great! Display it with your Facebook advertisement! Whatever you use, it should be small in size but relevant to your business or product. Giving distorted images has never helped and will never help!
