People use Facebook for many different purposes. It is most commonly used for keeping in touch with friends, family and relatives from around the world and keeping them updated on your everyday life. In addition, Facebook offers a wide range of other services which members can access and benefit from. One of the services is putting up a business on Facebook. How to put a business on Facebook is fairly simple and straightforward and due to the large number of members and online community available on Facebook, it serves as a reliable and convenient means to gain the business popularity and customers. A Facebook page is used as a public profile that enables members to share their business, products and updates with Facebook users. A business page is created within minutes with the help of the simple interface. You have to name your page, which stays permanent.

Once the Facebook business page is created, you can invite people to become fans or they can become fans themselves. As the fans interact with the Facebook business page, the news feed updates stories linking to the page and through this, it is shared with the fans' friends, hence increasing the awareness of the business. Your advertisement can go on the left hand side of a page or it can be put up on the News Feed.

If you opt for a pay-per-click option, then each time a visitor clicks on your advertisement you are charged for it.  This is quite an economical way of advertising and ensures that you are not charged every time the advertisement is displayed; only when someone clicks on it.

The pay-per-impression refers to payment per thousand impressions of your advertisement.  If your aim is to create brand awareness or just spread information about your business and products, then this is the option for you.  This is also limited to your set daily budget.

If it is a regular advertisement that you want, then it carries a brand image and content only.  It does not allow for any social interaction, but is just an effective advertising campaign.  Here, a link can be provided to your website or an affiliate website or to your Facebook page.

A last option is the Sponsored Social Story Advertisement.  This is where another user displays his/her comments or testimonials or personal stories.  Naturally, this advertisement attracts a large amount of attention-there is a story, the advertisement copy and a branded image!  If your regular advertisement gets the required number of interactions, it can be utilized as a Social Story Advertisement.
